HOMEOPATHY CURES THE SICK: DR KENT'S COMMENTARY

2017 0122 04  Homeopathy Cures the Sick: Dr Kent's Commentary

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dr Samuel Hahnemann [1755-1843]

Homeopathy cures [quickly, gently and permanently] the sick [individual] with a single simple remedy [at one time] in infinitesimal dose, which is potentized, proven [on the healthy], and based on the natural law of similars [similia similibus], by perceiving [through the senses] the guiding symptoms [mental and physical].
Homeopathy is a perfectly simple system of medicine, remaining always fixed in its principles as in its practice.

--  compiled from Hahnemann's Organon

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following is an excerpt from Dr James Tyler Kent's "Lectures on Homeopathic Philosophy" which is essentially a commentary on Hahnemann's ORGANON:

Organon § 1. "The physician's high and only mission is to restore the sick to health, to cure as it is termed."

The true homoeopath, when he speaks of the sick, knows who it is that is sick, whereas the allopath does not know. The latter thinks that the tissue changes [which are only the results of disease], are all that there is of the sick man.

Now what is meant by "the sick?" It is a man that is sick and to be restored to health, not his body, not the tissues. You will find many people who will say, "I am sick." They will enumerate pages of symptoms, pages of suffering. They look sick.

But they tell you : "I have been to the most eminent physicians. I have had my chest examined. I have been to the neurologist. I have been to the cardiac specialist and have had my heart examined. The eye specialist has examined my eyes. I have been to the gynecologist and have had my uterus examined", says the woman. I have been physically examined from head to foot, and they tell me I am not sick, I have no disease."

But at present the patient is not sick, says the learned doctor, "But what do all these symptoms mean? I do not sleep at night, I have pains and aches. My bowels do not move." "Oh, well, you have constipation." That is the first thing that has been diagnosed. But do all these things exist without a cause?

It would seem from one opinion that the "constipation" is the disease per se, but from another opinion it would appear to be the cause of disease; the "diagnosis" is made to apply to one as much as to the other.

These symptoms are but the language of nature, talking out as it were, and showing as clearly as the daylight the internal nature of the sick man or woman. If this state progresses the lungs break down.

The doctor says, "Oh, now you have consumption;" or a great change appears in the liver, and he says, "Oh, now you have fatty degeneration of the liver;" or albumen appears in the urine, and he tells the patient..". Now I am able to name your disease. You have some one of the forms of Bright's disease."

Under traditional methods it is necessary that a diagnosis be made before the treatment can be settled, but in most cases the diagnosis cannot be made until the results of disease have rendered the patient incurable.

For an eruption on the skin we would use local means to stimulate the functions of the skin and make it heal, and believing the eruption had no cause behind it we would conscientiously think we had cured the patient.

But this is the reductio ad absurdum, for nothing exists without a cause. The organs are not the man. The man is prior to the organs. From first to last is the order of sickness as well as the order of cure. From man to his organs and not from organs to the man.

The combination of the will and the understanding, constitute man; conjoined they make life and activity they manufacture the body and cause all things of the body. With the will and understanding operating in order we have a healthy man.

The will is expressed in the face ; its result is implanted on the countenance. The countenance then is expressive of the heart. Allopathic pathology recognizes nothing but man's body. The homoeopath must master these things before he can perceive the nature of the cause of disease and before he can understand what cure is.

It is the sole duty of the physician to heal the sick. It is not his sole duty to heal the results of sickness, but the sickness, itself, when the man himself has been restored to health, there will be restored harmony in the tissues and in the activities. Then the sole duty of the physician is to put in order the interior of the economy i.e., the will and understanding conjoined.

Tissue changes are of the body and are the results of disease. They are not the disease. Hahnemann once said, "There are no diseases, but sick people," from which it is clear that Hahnemann understood that the diseases so called, e.g., Bright's disease, liver disease, etc. were but the grosser forms of disease results, viz., appearances of disease.

There is first disorder of government, and this proceeds from within outward until we have pathological changes in the tissues. In the practice of medicine today, the idea of government is not found, and the tissue changes only are taken into account. He who considers disease results to be the disease itself, and expects to do away with these as disease, is insane.

The bacteria are results of disease. In the course of time we will be able to show perfectly that the microscopical little fellows are not the disease cause, but that they come after, that they are scavengers accompanying the disease, and that they are perfectly harmless in every respect.

They are the outcome of the disease, are present wherever the disease is, and by the microscope it has been discovered that every pathological result has its corresponding bacteria. The Old School consider these the cause, but we will be able to show that disease cause is much more subtle than anything that can be shown by a microscope.

In a note under para one, Hahnemann says: "The physician's mission is not, however, to construct so called systems, by interweaving empty speculations and hypotheses concerning the internal essential nature of the vital processes and the mode in which diseases originate in the invisible interior of the organism," etc.

We know that in the present day people are perfectly satisfied if they can find the name of the disease they are supposed to have, an idea cloaked in some wonderful technicality. Prescribing for the results of disease causes changes in the results of disease, but not in the sickness except to hurry its progress.

HOMEOPATHY FOR EVERY HOME: HOMEO FIRST AID KIT

2017 0115 03  Homeopathy for Every Home: Homeo First Aid Kit

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Homeopathy is cheap, effective, and has no side effects. This medical science uses natural substances to stimulate the body to heal itself.

Most homeopathic remedies are made from herbs and minerals, and they are based on the principle discovered by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann [1755-1843] that like cures like.

This means that a substance that produces symptoms in a healthy person can be used to cure the same symptoms in a sick person, when prepared according to homeopathic principles.

Emergency kits and individual remedies are available at health food stores and online. For most purposes potency 30C is a good enough.
Many of us have heard propaganda from Big Pharma and the medical industry that homeopathy is quackery. In truth the medical industry is afraid of the competition homeopathy represents. Anyone who has ever tried it will know the truth.

DR HARRY BENJAMIN: EXCERPTS FROM BETTER SIGHT...

2017 0108 02  Dr Harry Benjamin:  Excerpts from "Better Sight...

THE CAUSES OF DEFECTIVE VISION

1. MENTAL STRAIN

The main cause of defective vision is mental strain which sets up a corresponding physical strain upon the eyes and their muscles and nerves – thus leading to defective vision. A highly nervous temperament, with a tendency to mental tenseness and rigidity of thought, is the cause of most cases of serious visual deficiency. The degree of defective vision in all cases vary with the temperament and nervous condition of the individual.

Consequently, Dr. Bates concentrated his efforts upon methods of treatment which will remove the condition of mental strain, and the keynote of the " Bates Method ” is  therefore relaxation

If the mind of the patient can be relaxed, then his eyes (together with the muscles and nerves connected with them) will become relaxed in turn, and similarly, if the eyes and their muscles and nerves can be relaxed, then the brain (and consequently the mind) will become relaxed in turn; and so we see that the Bates method of treatment aims at mental and physical relaxation.

      2. FOOD

Not one of the millions suffering from old sight (nor their medical  advisers)  realize  that the wrong feeding habits of 45 or 50 years of living are responsible for this change in their visual powers ; but this  is  undoubtedly  the case and normal sight can be restored to any sufferer from presbyopia simply by the introduction of a sensible dietary  and  the carrying out  of  a  few  simple eye exercises.
To     emphasize      the     vital     relationship between food and vision,  it needs only to be stated that there are on  record  many authentic  cases of defective    vision    being    cured   simply by fasting.

The increased elimination induced by the fact has the effect of unlocking  the  accumulated stores  of  waste  products  which  have been clogging the muscles and blood-vessels surrounding the  eyes,  and  as  a  result  the muscles  are   relaxed  and   vision improved.

     3. IMPROPER    BLOOD    AND   NERVE   SUPPLY

The two chief causes of defective  vision are mental strain and wrong feeding, but there is a third factor capable of affecting the sight of the individual—thin is an improper blood and  nerve  supply.
Unless the  eyes  are  fully  supplied  with blood and nerve force, the process of vision cannot be   carried  out  properly;  and  so  any factor capable of interfering with either the blood-vessels or the nerves of the eyes is  a possible  cause   of  defective  vision.
Of course it is understood that both mental strain and wrong feeding interfere with  the proper blood and nerve supply to the eyes, but there are some purely mechanical ways in  which  this  may  be brought about.

The chief seat of  mechanical  interference with the blood and nerve supply of  supply The chief seat of  mechanical  interference with the blood and nerve supply to the eyes lies in the muscles covering the upper portion of the spine at the back of the neck.

It is necessary, therefore, in all cases of defective vision to make sure that the muscles at the back of the neck are perfectly relaxed and loose, and that no spinal defects are present.  [Better Sight Without Glasses pp 38-43]

AIDS TO VISION:    READING

The practice of reading is supposed to be responsible for much eye-strain, especially when carried out in a  bad light; but in  point of fact, reading is one of the best  ways  of keeping the eyes active and healthy, and  can never cause defective vision, no matter how  much reading is done, providing the eyes are relaxed  the  whole  time.

People with normal sight can read in any light without harm, but those whose vision is defective, and especially those who wear glasses, are subjecting their eyes to an additional strain every time they read.

In spite of this, however, one of the best ways to restore normal sight to those suffering from defective vision is to make them read (without glasses, of course) a fair amount every day.

If the reading is carried out properly, nothing but good can result, but if it is done in the usual manner, matters will be made worse than before.

The secret of successful reading is to read without strain, and this is accomplished as follows:

Palm for a few minutes, then take a book or newspaper and begin to read at the distance you see the print best.  For those with myopia, this may be anything from twelve to six inches, and for those with hypermetropia, or presbyopia, two feet or more.

Read a few lines, or a line, or even a few words, as the case may be until you feel the eyes beginning to tire. then stop, close the eyes completely for a second or two, and begin again. Keep blinking regularly all  the time you are reading, and in this way you will find yourselfable to read with ease and without strain.

Reading, carried out in this  manner improves vision, and gives the eyes work that they  want  to do it is their function to see but they must never be strained.     [Better Sight Without Glasses pp 56-57]
